Arizona Weddings Magazine: “Special Edition” Feature Story Spread
Print / typography badge / art direction / design / photoshop retouching
Arizona Weddings Magazine aimed to shake up its standard clean design with a “Leather, Lace, Tattoos, and Harley-Davidson” featured article. My task was to design a modern-edge layout with a more provocative and stylish flair that would attract the attention of an edgier audience.
A little bit of flair.
Every great project can be enhanced by a little bit of typographical love. Designing a custom typography and illustration badge logo was a perfect fit for the client’s mission and intended audience.
Vintage meets Modern — the design rationale.
Inspired by a vintage vibe, gentle flourishes and hip icons nod to a contemporary take on a cultural intersection of vintage and modern.
Incorporating steel metallic blue hues paired with soft, feminine pink florals, this boutique chic layout reflects a harmonic combination of hard and soft, feminine and masculine. Colorful accents of energetic orange tie in the Harley Davidson brand and the jewelry by E. D. Marshall Jewelers.
Strong triangular shapes play a dominant element in this layout — those pointing down represent the feminine energy while those that point up represent the masculine energy. Combined, there is a harmonic principle of union.
“The devil’s in the details”.
No project is complete without a kiss of Photoshop magic. So with a swift click of the mouse, I retouched the model in a few photos where she had some cosmetic dark under the eyes circles and places where her bodice did not fit properly. Hey! every gal’s gotta look good on her special day — even a badass woman.
